Fine Arts

At Oakwood Adventist Academy, students have many opportunities for the development of a lifelong appreciation for music.  Participation in choir, string class, and percussion band is available to elementary/middle school students.  At the high school level, choir and string ensemble classes provide instruction, practice and performance opportunities.  OAA music groups give performances in local churches and participate in regional music association workshops and union-wide music festivals.  All elementary and middle school music instruction (music appreciation classes, choir, percussion band, and strings) as well as high school strings is provided by Valley Conservatory of Huntsville (B. Renee Collins, Ph.D.).  The high school choir is under the direction of J. Philip Williams, Ed.D.  The music program is an integral part of the OAA experience and facilitates the school’s mission to develop, nurture, and affirm (DNA) students for a lifetime of service to God and humanity.
